Nakshatra Jio is a service operated by Nakshatra Vani Technologies (OPC) Private Limited ("we," "our," or "us"), a company incorporated in India (CIN: U96906MH2026OPC471003). We operate the website www.nakshatrajio.com and the Nakshatra Jio mobile application (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website or mobile app. By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Personal Information: When you create an account or place an order, we collect your full name, email address, date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth. This information is necessary to generate your personalized Vedic Astrology chart and reports.

Phone Number: If you provide your phone number (with country code), we collect it to deliver reports to your WhatsApp and send order notifications. By providing your phone number, you consent to receiving your astrology reports and related communications via WhatsApp.

Family Profile Data: If you add family members to your account, we collect their name, nickname, relation, date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth for compatibility analysis and multi-chart features.

Chat Messages: When you use the Jyotish AI chat feature, your messages and AI responses are stored to maintain conversation history and improve the service.

Journal & Wellness Data: If you use optional features such as the Cosmic Diary or Cycle Tracker, we store the entries, moods, notes, photos and — for the Cycle Tracker — the menstrual cycle dates and symptoms you choose to log. This is sensitive health-related data: it is used only to power your personal insights inside the app, is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and you can delete it at any time.

Voice Recordings: If you record a voice entry in the Cosmic Diary, the audio is sent to our AI transcription provider (OpenAI Whisper) to convert it to text. We store the resulting text entry; the raw audio is not retained on our servers after transcription.

Payment Information: Payment processing is handled entirely by Razorpay (for India) and PayPal (for international customers). We do not store, collect, or have access to your credit card numbers, bank account details, or other financial information. Please refer to Razorpay's and PayPal's respective Privacy Policies for details on how they handle your payment data.

Wallet & Usage Data: We store your prepaid wallet balance, any promotional/bonus credits, daily usage counts, streaks, and purchase history to manage your account and process pay-per-use features.

Push Notification Tokens: If you enable push notifications (on our website or mobile app), we store your device token (web push subscription or Expo push token) to send you horoscope updates, transit alerts, and reminders. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.

Usage Data: We automatically collect certain information about your device and activity, including IP address (used to approximate your country and to detect AI-assistant referrals), browser/OS type, referring URLs, and pages viewed. This is collected via our own first-party analytics and standard tools (Google Analytics and Meta Pixel on the website) to improve the Service and measure advertising effectiveness.

Advertising ID (Mobile App): Our Android app uses Google Firebase Analytics, which collects the device Advertising ID. We use it for product analytics and to measure the performance of our advertising campaigns (app-install attribution). You can reset or limit the Advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

Chart Calculation & Reports: Your birth details are used to calculate your Vedic birth chart using astronomical algorithms (astronomy-engine with Lahiri Ayanamsa) and generate personalized astrology reports using AI technology.

Compatibility Analysis: Birth details of you and your family profiles are used to calculate Ashtakoot Guna Milan scores and generate compatibility reports.

Jyotish AI Chat: Your chart data, dasha periods, and transit positions are provided to the AI to give you personalized astrological guidance in conversation.

Report Delivery: Your email address and optional phone number are used to deliver completed reports via email and WhatsApp.

Horoscopes & Alerts: Your Moon sign (Rashi) is used to deliver personalized daily and weekly horoscopes, transit alerts, and Sade Sati notifications.

Customer Support: Your contact information may be used to respond to inquiries or resolve issues with your account.

Service Improvement: Aggregated, anonymized data may be used to analyze trends and improve our Service.

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share information with the following service providers who assist in operating our business:

Supabase: Cloud database and authentication provider where your account, profile, chat messages, and order data are stored securely.

Razorpay: Secure payment processing for customers in India (one-time purchases, subscriptions, and credit bundles).

PayPal: Secure payment processing for international customers.

Google (Gemini) & OpenAI (GPT): Your birth details, chart data and chat questions are sent to these AI systems to generate reports and chat responses. Voice diary recordings are sent to OpenAI (Whisper) for transcription. No financial or payment information is shared with AI providers.

Resend: Email delivery service for reports and notifications.

Meta (WhatsApp Business API): If you provide your phone number, your number and report PDF are transmitted via Meta's WhatsApp Business API for delivery.

Expo (Push Notifications): If you use our mobile app and enable notifications, your Expo push token is used to deliver push notifications via Expo's push service.

Google Firebase Analytics (Mobile App): App-usage analytics and advertising-campaign attribution, which collects the device Advertising ID.

Google Analytics: Website analytics and usage tracking using anonymized data.

Meta Pixel: Measuring advertising effectiveness and optimizing ad delivery.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Birth details, chart data, and family profiles are retained as part of your account to enable ongoing features like horoscopes, chat, and transits. Chat messages are retained for your conversation history. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. Deleted data is purged within 30 days. Your email address and phone number may be retained for communication purposes unless you request removal.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Payment processing is handled by PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure through Razorpay and PayPal. Authentication is managed by Supabase with industry-standard security practices.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.

Deletion: Delete your account and all personal data instantly via the Delete Account page, in the mobile app under Settings, or by emailing us.

Data Portability: Request an export of your data in a standard format.

Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications, disable push notifications, or opt out of WhatsApp messages at any time.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users must be at least 18 years old to make purchases. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete such information promptly.

9. Cookies & Tracking

Our website uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We also use Google Analytics for anonymized usage tracking and Meta Pixel to measure advertising effectiveness. Our mobile app uses AsyncStorage for local preferences and does not use tracking cookies. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences.

10. Mobile App Specific

Our Android mobile app (available on Google Play) collects the same categories of data described above. Additionally:

Device Permissions: The app may request: camera (for profile pictures and the Sky Now AR view); the system photo picker (to attach a profile picture or diary image — no broad photo-library permission is used); microphone (only when you record a voice entry in the Cosmic Diary); notifications; and the Advertising ID (for analytics and ad attribution). We do not access your location, contacts, calendar, or SMS.

Local Storage: The app stores preferences, authentication tokens, and your profile picture locally on your device. Your account data, charts, journal and tracker entries are stored securely on our servers (Supabase) so they sync across devices.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
